GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A bicyclist remains in critical condition after police say he pulled in front of an oncoming car.

Greenville police say it happened around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday on Greenville Boulevard at the entrance to University Commons Shopping Center near Kirklands.

Police say the 18-year-old cyclist was making a left turn into the shopping center when he was struck by a car. He was taken to ECU Health Medical Center.

Officers say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet and is in critical condition.

They say he turned in front of the oncoming car, and the driver did not have time to stop. Police say the driver will not be charged in the crash.

Police have not yet released the name of the cyclist.
