NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — All three major New York City area airports could be in for a rude awakening on Friday, with 10% of flights at 40 airports being cut by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The ongoing government shutdown has already led to countless ground stops and delays at Newark International, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports due to staffing issues in air traffic control towers.
It's not just New York, either. Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Miami are some of the other major markets that will see the reduction.
With the announcement on Wednesday of reduced air traffic at "high volume" airports beginning Friday, flyers could be in for an even more miserable experience with the holiday travel season quickly approaching.
How miserable can it be?
