HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - Don Mattingly has made a decision on his plans for 2026.

The Evansville native is not returning to the Toronto Blue Jays as its bench coach as stated by a release by Mattingly Charities.

The former National League Manager of the Year expressed appreciation to the Jays President & CEO Mark Shapiro and General Manager Ross Atkins.

Mattingly has no plans to retire just yet and wants to remain in the game. However, he did not give specifics to his future.

Mattingly experienced his first World Series in 2025 in his career as a player, manager or coach. The series went all seven games, but Mattingly and Toronto came up short in a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Dodgers due to a game tying home run by Miguel Rojas in the 9th inning and a go-ahead home run by Will Smith
