Lloyd Peeples announced his candidacy for the Alabama House of Representatives, representing House District 48, on Thursday.
Peeples is the senior trial counsel in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, Since 2003, he has held numerous leadership roles there, including deputy chief, civil/criminal health care fraud coordinator, chief of the criminal division, and first Assistant United States Attorney. While serving as a manager, Peeples also continued to prosecute complex federal crimes, including the kidnappers of Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney and Joran van der Sloot. From 2012 until 2016, Lloyd served as chief executive officer of Container Service Corporation.
Peeples will challenge incumbent State Rep. Jim Carns (R-Vestavia Hills) in House District 48
