LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- More than 48,000 parents, students, staff, and community members responded to a survey on a proposal to change school start times, with most saying getting extra sleep was the primary benefit.
According to the findings, which will be presented and discussed at a CCSD Board of Trustees meeting on November 13, 48,038 people took the survey after the district asked for feedback on a proposal to shift school start times 30 minutes later for the 2026/2027 school year.
Among the total responses, nearly 78% of students, 60% of parents, and 53% of CCSD staff favored additional sleep.
Under the proposal, elementary school start times would shift to 9:30 a.m., middle school start times to 8:30 a.m., and high school start times to 7:30 a.m., and would not cost the district addi
