Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) announced Wednesday afternoon that an issue with equipment at Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) was reducing the number of surgeries it could perform.

“The equipment used to sterilize instruments used in surgeries is not functioning correctly at FMC,” according to the release. “We are able to sterilize surgical instruments, but not at the same volume as usual. Therefore, we have a responsibility to the region we serve to prioritize urgent and emergency cases. Those surgeries we are doing are being completed with safe and sterile equipment, we just cannot accommodate as many surgeries as usual.”
