FRANKFORT, Ky. — Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins will lie in state at the Old State Capitol Sunday, Nov. 9, Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., said during Wednesday during a news briefing.

Kentuckians are invited to come pay their respects from noon to 3 p.m. The governor said plans for a service for Collins are still underway, with more details expected soon.

“Former Gov. Martha Layne Collins was a powerhouse, transforming our commonwealth through major accomplishments like bringing Toyota to our state for its first U.S. site," Beshear said. "She created a foundation for us to build a strong future upon, and her legacy will continue to benefit Kentucky families for generations.
