MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. (WROC) — Some experts say frustration with the federal government compelled many voters to channel their emotions into the ballot box.
Democrats had a strong election night, winning in towns that have historically been dominated by Republican leadership.
However, two winners told News 8 that it wasn’t just about national politics — or even party lines.
Democratic Henrietta Town Supervisor Stephen Schultz and Republican Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Smith both said their wins are less about politics and more about people.
“I don’t care what letter is after your name — put the community first,” said Schultz. “Once you’re elected, you serve everybody, not just the people who elected you.”
Smith shared a similar sentiment.
