DENVER (KDVR) -- A man was arrested and faces several charges after police said he allegedly walked into a grocery store and tried to enter the employee-only area and assaulted an employee.

A spokesperson for the Boulder Police Department told FOX31 in an email Thursday that a man walked into a Safeway store in Boulder at 9:54 a.m., grabbed some items and tried to enter an employee-only area.

Police said an employee told the man that he could not enter the area, at which point the man allegedly assaulted the employee.

Boulder police arrived shortly after and arrested the man.

The spokesperson said the man is facing charges of first-degree burglary and attempted robbery.
