EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Local organizations continue to step up to support Tri-State residents during the government shutdown.

One of those organizations is the Tri-State Food Bank, who has been holding Emergency SNAP Response Mobile Food Distribution events.

Officials say over 100,000 people in the Tri-State area depend on SNAP benefits that have been cut due to the government shutdown.

One resident says events like this are important to those who depend on benefits.

“Me and my wife are both retired, we’re living on fixed incomes and little things like this do help,” he says.

Tri-State Food Bank will hold another drive up giveaway beside the House of Como starting at 9 a.m. Friday morning.
