GREENE COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - It took a while, but train cars that were derailed in Green County earlier this year are now being removed.

You may recall that train derailment in March of this year when several railcars toppled over on Greene County Road 107 .

Until this week, some of the railcars were left on the side the tracks.

With the cars now being removed, neighbors in the Mount Hebron community in Greene County couldn’t be more pleased . A removal crew started Wednesday using a strong backhoe to cut up the railcars and haul the pieces away.

Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway says the work should be finished by Friday.
