(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department is investigating two fatal shootings that occurred Thursday morning. Officers responded to the 1100 block of 98th Avenue just after 11:30 a.m.

Arriving on the scene, officers located two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

OPD Homicide Division investigators followed up with an investigation into the shooting. The identity of the victims is being withheld, pending next of kin.

Police declined to say whether it was an isolated incident or if there was an ongoing threat to the community. The investigation, police said, is ongoing.
