BETHESDA, Md. — At Walt Whitman High School, it wasn’t quite Ali-Frazier — but the crowd still came ready for a heavyweight bout.

It's a bout of the brains.

The school’s “It’s Academic” team squared off against a group of “upperclassmen” — alumni from the Class of 1970, back for their 55-year reunion.

“We still have the same memory in our computer,” joked Barry Kemelhor, captain of Whitman’s 1970 team. “But our processor is like Windows Two.”

Kemelhor dreamed up the match as a way to reconnect generations who all share one thing: a love for learning.

“All this stuff you hear about angry old baby boomers out at protests — we still know how to have some fun,” teammate Robin Vierbuchen-Sproul laughed.

On one side: students raised on TikTok and Bad Bunny. On the other: grads who grew up
