CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person is in the hospital after a reported stabbing on a CATS bus just outside of Uptown Thursday evening.

Medic said it happened around 5 p.m. along North Tryon Street near Ashby Street. The agency said at the time that the victim faced life-threatening injuries.

Medic noted that the stabbing was called in by CATS dispatch. WCNC Charlotte later received confirmation from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department that the stabbing had a city bus and that the injuries were eventually deemed non-life-threatening.

Court records show that 57-year-old James Calvin Bennett was arrested in connection with the incident. He's charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
