A pilot encampment advisory committee to help address homeless encampments in Chatham-Kent is moving forward, but concerns have been raised.

Chatham-Kent council approved the terms of reference for the yet-to-be-formed 10-member committee during Monday’s council meeting, after issues were pointed out by two residents who gave deputations.

Noting residents have fought hard to get the committee, Claire McDowell, co-chair of the Northside neighbours association, which represents neighbours living near the homeless encampment at 325 Grand Ave. E. in Chatham, said the composition is critical.
