Fantastic Four: First Steps is looking to snap an unfortunate Oscars trend for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well-received by critics and audiences when it launched in theaters this summer (and again once it hit Disney+ ), First Steps hasn't made much of an impact in the award season races, which isn't atypical for most superhero films during the prestige season.

However, that doesn't mean it's out of the running entirely. It even seems highly likely that the Oscars could recognize the craft included in the film's behind-the-scenes elements , rewarding its creatives with several below-the-line nominations. However, in a year full of tough competition, that might not be good enough to buck an unfortunately persistent MCU Oscar trend.
