SEVEN HILLS, Ohio — A 37-year-old man with autism was arrested Wednesday morning after police say he assaulted a juvenile inside the Meijer store on Broadview Road in Seven Hills.

According to a police report, officers were called to the store around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 5 after a woman reported that her son had been attacked. The child was found crying in a vehicle outside with a small wound on his nose, police said.

Witnesses told officers the suspect, identified as Christopher Allen, ran up behind the child inside the store and repeatedly smashed the boy’s face into a shopping cart. The boy’s mother and relatives grabbed their children and ran toward the exit, with Allen allegedly chasing them before an armed off-duty officer intervened.
