GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Nearly three years after she was beaten and robbed in Atlanta, Tamia Sims-Irby finally has most of her stolen money back after it was held by the Greenville Police Department.
“I’m super happy. I’m healing now,” Sims-Irby said. “I never want to go through this again and I never wish this on my worst enemy.”
Her money has now been returned following a lawsuit and media attention from FOX Carolina Investigates.
Sims-Irby filed a lawsuit and a judge allowed a mutual agreement between her legal team and the city to move forward. As part of the deal, the city cut a check to the clerk of court so she could get her money returned and the police department was dismissed from the case.
