STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A woman is facing charges after she was allegedly arrested in possession of a firearm early Wednesday morning.

According to a spokesperson with the NYPD, officers from the Neighborhood Safety Team responded to a ShotSpotter activation within Silver Lake Park just after 12:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly encountered Lanicke Stanley, 29, who fled from the police into a wooded area, the spokesperson said.

In pursuit, officers jumped a guard rail and followed Stanley into the woods, where they took her into custody, added the spokesperson.

At the scene, in the vicinity of Forest Avenue and Victory Boulevard, Stanley, a resident of the 300 block of Broadway in West Brighton, was found to be in possession of a black plastic bag containing a 9mm Taurus G3C semi-
