Beginning Friday, travelers can expect to see fewer flights through some of the nation’s busiest airports — including right here in Alaska.

The FAA has announced a 10-percent cut in flights at 40 major airports across the U.S.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is on that list — the only Alaska airport affected at this time.

The reductions also include several of the nation’s largest hubs, such as Chicago O’Hare, New York’s JFK, Los Angeles International, as well as airports in Portland, Seattle, and Honolulu.

The FAA says the changes are part of an effort to ease congestion and improve overall flight reliability heading into the busy travel season.
