The three players the Pirates placed on waivers Wednesday night are almost assuredly lost, including two for sure.
The Detroit Tigers claimed right-hander Jack Little, and the New York Mets grabbed speedy outfielder Ji Hwan Bae.
Liover Peguero was the third one. He went unclaimed and had his contract outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis. However, he was in the minor leagues for seven years, meaning he’s eligible for minor league free agency.
Peguero could technically re-sign with the Pirates, although at this point that seems unlikely.
They were part of a series of roster moves the Pirates made on Thursday, as the deadline for bringing players off the 60-day injured list and back onto 40-man rosters arrived.
Pittsburgh also reinstated right-handed pitchers Dugan Darnell and Jared Jones
