A person tragically died in an incident at a train station in Greater Manchester on Thursday evening (November 6).
All services were halted after the line was closed between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria. Police, paramedics and fire crews raced to the incident at Ashton-under-Lyne station at around 5pm.
Pictures from the scene showed a cordon in place on Turner Lane, beneath the railway bridge, with multiple ambulances and police vehicles also in attendance.

Train services were stopped for around two hours in both directions while emergency crews worked at the scene. It followed reports of a casualty on the tracks.
