COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine provided details Thursday on when Ohioans impacted by the pause in SNAP benefits can expect to receive food assistance.
Last week, DeWine signed an executive order directing the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to provide up to $25 million in food assistance amid the ongoing government shutdown.
Of the $25 million in relief announced last week, $18 million will go to roughly 63,000 low-income Ohioans who are Ohio Works First recipients. Ohio Works First is a program that provides cash assistance to low-income families with children, according to ODJFS. That money should be distributed weekly, starting Friday.
