NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A few local heroes are getting the keys to something that will help them move forward — a new set of wheels.

Ahead of Veterans Day, Progressive Insurance continued its annual Keys to Progress program, donating cars to veterans in need. Among the recipients was Angelique Jenkins, a Navy veteran and mother of six, who received a 2025 Toyota Sienna Thursday morning at Fort Hamilton Base in Brooklyn.

“I feel very overjoyed, grateful, very happy,” Jenkins said as she sat behind the wheel for the first time.

The new van, she explained, is more than transportation—it’s a lifeline. For years after leaving the Navy, Jenkins and her family struggled with poor credit, relying on trains, buses, and shared rides to get by.
