JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Following a deadly crash Wednesday on Edgewood Avenue, First Coast News is raising questions about roadway safety when it comes to motorcycles.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, motorcycle deaths from crashes rose this year, while non-deadly crashes went down from the year prior.

According to JSO's numbers, there were 32 deadly motorcycle crashes last year.

This year, there have already been almost 40 deaths.

“It’s very sad. It’s not about just you on that road because once you're gone, you're leaving a lot of us hurt back here,” said Solomon Powell, president of Nolo Riders Jacksonville and member of the Urban Biker Coalition .

Powell has been riding motorcycles for almost a decade.
