PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Utility regulators in Pennsylvania and in Washington, D.C., are saying data centers should pay their fair share.

Pennsylvania's Public Utility Commission announced a plan to charge data center developers for the work needed to connect the facilities to the grid.

The chairman says it will help data centers get up and running, while making sure consumers don't pay the price for major infrastructure improvements.

"We're proposing clear, transparent rules that help interconnect large loads quickly and responsibly – protecting reliability, preventing cost-shifts, and avoiding stranded costs," noted PUC Chairman Steve DeFrank.
