PHOENIX — Governor Katie Hobbs said she was considering declaring a state of emergency over delayed food benefits for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans.
The governor said on KTAR News on Thursday that declaring a state of emergency would open up a "limited pool" of funds for SNAP recipients.
"We are looking at all of the options," Hobbs said.
The Trump administration said last month that it would not pay benefits at all for November because of the federal shutdown. Last week, two judges ordered the government to pay at least partial benefits using an emergency fund. It initially said it would cover half, but then said it would cover 65%.
