LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The season of giving is officially underway in Southwest Louisiana, as KPLC and the Salvation Army are teaming up once again to bring holiday cheer to families in need.
At the Verandah, the Christmas spirit is already shining bright as the community came together to kick off the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This initiative supports hundreds of local families and seniors annually.
“I think there’s a little bit of anxiety about what’s next, and then those who aren’t working seem to be struggling to get employment and full-time employment or sufficient wages,” Major Patrishia Knott of the Salvation Army said.
Each angel tag represents a child or senior who could use a little extra help this holiday season, and with rising costs, the need has grown.
