A suspect was arrested for a stabbing attack that left a man dead and a woman severely injured in San Bernardino County.

On Nov. 5, deputies responded to a home on the 51000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway in Morongo Valley around 3:10 a.m.

The victims, a 58-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, were asleep when the suspect, Rocky Duarte, 41, of Morongo Valley, reportedly broke into the home.

The woman was sleeping on a chair when she suddenly awoke and saw Duarte inside her kitchen. Duarte first stabbed the 58-year-old man to death. He then turned his attention to the woman and also stabbed her, leaving her with severe injuries.
