AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Director Renza Yarbrough is putting the finishing touches on her holiday stage play “They Call Him Ebenezer,” a modern take on the classic “A Christmas Carol.”
The production digs deeper into the main character’s past, exploring why Ebenezer Scrooge became so sensitive and mean.
Yarbrough said she focuses on the character’s origins rather than just his transformation.
“I’m always looking for where a message can be placed and in this story. Although the original Christmas Carol, Ebenezer finds a different way of life. He was motivated by some things at the end of the day I like to focus on how did he get there. Or what was the reason he was in the space that he’s in,” Yarbrough said.
