CORALVILLE — The Iowa high school volleyball state championship match between Denver and Hinton was like the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object — two teams that entered the Class 2A finale with three combined losses.
The No. 1 Cyclones (50-1) met force with even more firepower, outlasting the No. 3 Blackhawks in five sets (25-22, 26-28, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11) to win their second consecutive state title on Nov. 6.
"Back-to-back, it just shows how hard we work in the offseason," said Denver senior Channing Johnson. "We had to dig deep to come out with a win tonight and I think that really just makes it even more special."
With the first set tied at 21, Denver sophomore Adeana Murch slapped in a kill before a serve ace courtesy of Adalyn Ortegren put the Cyclones in front by two
