HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has set his sights on internet and streaming provider Altice/Optimum Online, which he accuses of using bait-and-switch tactics to steal millions of dollars from people across the state.
Tong announced Thursday that he issued an expanded complaint detailing how the company’s shady advertising tactics purposely misled Spanish speakers and illegally made $39.1 million in “Network Enhancement” junk fees off Connecticut consumers.
The complaint alleged that Altice violated the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practice Act multiple times. It seeks penalties and the return of all profits made through unfair and deceptive business practices.
