NEW YORK CITY, New York — Peloton Interactive Inc. announced a safety recall Thursday affecting approximately 833,000 of its Original Series Bike+ units (model PL02) after reports that the bike’s seat post assembly can break during use, posing a fall and injury risk to riders.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission , the recall covers bikes sold at Peloton and Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide, as well as online through Peloton, eBay, Amazon and Dick’s Sporting Goods between January 2020 and April of this year, priced at about $2,495. The bikes’ serial numbers, which start with the letter “T,” can be found near the front wheel area, either on or behind the metal bar that connects the handlebars and pedals, or just behind the large circular flywheel.
