In a major relief to former Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers, the Tripura High Court has directed the state government to grant them regular pay scale and arrears from the date they joined as regular teachers after qualifying the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET).
Justice S Datta Purkayastha, while disposing of a batch of petitions led by WP(C) No. 52 of 2022, held that the petitioners’ previous SSA service could not be disregarded for pay and service regularisation. The court ordered the authorities to release arrears in two phases within six months—50 percent within the first three months and the rest in the following three months.
