Pittsburgh Mayor-elect Corey O'Connor met with Mayor Ed Gainey in the mayor's office Thursday to plan the city's future, marking their first meeting since O'Connor defeated Gainey in the Democratic primary and went on to win the election.

"I want to thank Mayor Gainey for his leadership to reach out on election night to say, 'Hey, please come in.' Set up the meeting within two days. Talked about what's been working, what are some adjustments, and to his vision," O'Connor said. Advertisement

Olga George, Gainey's press secretary, said, "They had a great communication. Of course, the mayor, after Mayor-elect O'Connor was chosen, he did reach out to him via text and let him know that he would like to meet, have the teams meet and start talking."
