GREEN BAY – At match point, merely moments after a timeout at the Resch Center, Newman coach Betty Lange watched from the end of the bench, waiting in anticipation.

Once senior Lauren Thiel’s serve flew back to the Newman side of the net, Fighting Cardinals star senior Camille Sobolewski exploded into perfect position, while Lange simultaneously crouched in excitement as the ball smacked onto the floor.

Sobolewski had just sent the ball away to earn her 24th kill of the match, helping Newman earn a trip back to the state championship.

It took only three sets, and historical performances at the state level from Newman standouts to knock off Florence in the WIAA Division 5 semifinal.
