A teenager will face court after allegedly damaging a controversial statue in South Australia .
Amelia Vanderhorst, 19, was charged with one count of damaging property after gluing a pair of googly eyes onto the Cast in Blue statue in Mount Gambier , on September 13.
Locally known as the “Blue Blob”, the statue has garnered controversy after it’s installation in July as it was revealed it cost the council $136,000.
Police allege Vanderhorst was “recklessly indifferent” to whether her actions could have damaged the sculpture, adding the cost to restore Cast in Blue to be less than $2,500.
The statue was spotted with chipped paint where Vanderhorst allegedly superglued the eyes before being partially covered up to be restored.
She did not enter a plea during her first appearance bef
