A Redcar and Cleveland school has overcome objections from nearby residents to be granted retrospective planning permission after converting a grassed area into a hardstanding multi-use games area (MUGA).

A supporting letter on behalf of Teesville Academy sent to the local planning authority earlier this year said a previous merger resulting in an extension of the school buildings on the site had reduced the amount of hard surface outdoor space available. It also said inclement weather outside of summer months often made an existing field used for recreation at the site off Lime Road, Teesville, wet and muddy.
