PIKE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – A ribbon cutting was held Thursday on a new health resource for children in Pike County.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine joined local leaders in Piketon at the Piketon Junior-Senior High School. They introduced the Scioto Valley School District’s new school-based health clinic and gave a tour.
It is funded with support from Ohio’s Appalachian Children’s Health Initiative, started by DeWine to development similar school-based health centers in the state’s Appalachian counties.
“Schools are the center of the community, and this makes it even more of the center of the community,” DeWine said. “It’s where people are more comfortable coming to and it gives the opportunity for people to to get their primary care right here.”
