Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated a year-long commemoration of "Vande Mataram" to mark 150 years of the national song, by releasing a commemorative stamp and a coin. Speaking at a programme in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said that the celebration will give new inspiration to many citizens of the country.
"Vande Mataram is a true symbol of India's unity as it has inspired generations. I congratulate my Indian brothers and sisters on this occasion. As we mark 150 years of Vande Mataram today, this will give us new inspiration and fill the people of the country with new energy," PM Modi said.
Further in his address, the Prime Minister invoked the spirit of Vande Mataram as a symbol of India's resilience and unity.
