Nearly 1 million bottles of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, sold at Costco, are being recalled after reports that the glass bottles can break or shatter, causing cuts and gashes to consumers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPS) said .
The recall was announced Thursday by F&F Fine Wines International, doing business as Ethica Wines. One injury has been reported so far.
The recalled Prosecco bottles, about 941,400 of them, were sold in green bottles with purple foil and labels reading “Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.” It was available at Costco stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin between April and August of this year, USCPSC said.
