Argenta, 1916: Paul Latchey, aged 5 or 6, was photographed on a pony that likely belonged to the photographer. The boy's 18-year-old mother died a couple weeks after giving birth in 1911, his father later dying in a coal mining accident near Fort Smith in 1916. The orphaned boy apparently went to live with an uncle.
