While Sarasota has never taken a direct hit from a November hurricane, a few late-season tropical storms have still managed to drench the Suncoast.
There have been just three hurricanes to make landfall in the Sunshine State in November since hurricane records began : an unnamed hurricane in 1935, Kate in 1985, and Nicole in 2022. A fourth came ashore in North Carolina in 1851. None of these impacted Sarasota except for Nicole, which pushed through Sarasota and Manatee counties as a tropical storm.
Nine total tropical storms have made landfall in Florida in November, according to NOAA records : unnamed storms in 1861, 1903, 1921, and 1946, Tropical Storm Gordon, which brushed southwest Florida in 1994, Mitch which hit Naples in 1998, Michelle which hit southeast Florida in 2001,
