Monroe boxer Derick Miller is in the final days of training for the biggest fight of his career.
The cruiserweight bout against Robin Safar, who is ranked 12th in the world, is being taken very seriously.
Both fighters have career records of 18-0. Safar owns 13 knockouts and Miller 10.
But Miller let a little humor sneak into the preparations.
“It’s 18-0 against 18-0. Someone’s 0 has got to go,” Miller said with a chuckle. “I don’t want it to be mine.”
The fight will take place at Dickie’s Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 8.
It’s part of the undercard for a junior middleweight battle between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Erickson Lubin.
“Derick is in the best shape of his life,” said his coach Todd Riggs of Monroe.
Miller needs to be in great shape against Safar.
