Punjab releases ₹287.95 crore for persons with disabilities; ₹495 crore set aside this year: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: The Punjab Government has disbursed ₹287.95 crore in financial assistance to 276,175 persons with disabilities across the state, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said on Friday.

Dr. Kaur said the Mann-led government has placed disability welfare among its top priorities, with a budgetary provision of ₹495 crore for the 2025–26 financial year to ensure the scheme’s transparent and efficient rollout.

Emphasizing inclusion, she said the administration is working beyond cash support to expand employment opportunities, skill training, and accessible infrastructure so beneficiaries can lead dignified, independent lives.
