EAST PROVIDENCE – Facing the biggest test of her young career and unsure of what to do, Lauren Gill did what a lot of high school students do when faced with the same predicament in the classroom.

She guessed.

The hunch, built on years of training, hard work and a little bit of luck, paid off. In the 10th round of the shootout, Gill followed freshman Maddy Voccio’s converted goal with a save that gave Prout a scoreless shootout win over East Providence in the Division II semifinals and earned the defending champs a return trip to Rhode Island College.
