It should have been a display of the impressive job athletic director Jim Smith has done in the early months of his tenure to highlight a successful homecoming weekend. But by the second quarter of a 55-10 loss to Indiana , many in that sea of red that Smith reeled in were chanting for the school — for Smith — to fire the football coach.
