A driver has been seriously injured in a major crash that shut down a train line and left businesses without power for hours.

The crash happened at the intersection of John St and Sevenoaks St in Bentley, Perth just before 9am on Friday.

The Kia Stinger raced through a give way sign, taking out a powerpole and crashing and rolling next to tracks.

A passing train narrowly misses the chaos, arriving just moments later.

“I heard a loud bang, next minute the flicker of the lights happened, power went out, everybody’s rushed out,” Zac Antrews told 7NEWS.

“We’ve seen the powerline falling down.”
