The boyfriend of Sherell Pringle , the 40-year-old Woburn woman whose body was discovered in a Saugus marsh in 2021, has been convicted of her murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole, prosecutors said.

Bruce Maiben, 48, of Lynn, was found guilty Monday by an Essex County jury of first-degree murder. His sentence was handed down Wednesday, according to a statement from Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker.

Pringle’s body was discovered on Dec. 21, 2021, in a marsh along northbound Route 107 in Saugus, the Globe reported . Her family had been conducting their own search for her since she failed to return home from a date with Maiben two days earlier.
