DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man has been sentenced for a stabbing in Decatur.

On July 13, 2025, Decatur police were called out for a stabbing at Sundown Lounge. Officers found a 54-year-old who had been stabbed in the abdomen. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Police arrested Morgan Russell, 59, for aggravated battery.

On November 6, Russell took a plea agreement, pleading guilty to one count of Aggravated Battery. All other counts were dropped.

Russell was sentenced to 12 months probation and time served, 116 days.

He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
